Queensland strawberry growers in the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Region would like to significantly increase their engagement with local workers throughout the region. With higher employment of locals, brings many benefits to the the region, both to the growers and the local workforce. The primary objectives of this project are:
- To increase the number of local people employed in the strawberry industry on local Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Region strawberry farms.
- Increased stability of workforce for strawberry growers by having a higher proponent of locals in their workforces
- Demonstration that there are career pathways in the agriculture industry through opportunities such as packing and picking on local farms
This project is a partnership funded by Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay Region, Sunshine Coast Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council, and supported by industry including Queensland Strawberries, GrowCom, Queensland Agriculture Workforce Network, Food & Agribusiness Network and The JobShow.
